Did you know….
Hemophiliacs that died in the 80’s from infected blood could have been saved. It was said today that if public health officials would have not been preoccupied with saving money, there could have been more lives saved. More than 2000 hemophiliacs are dead from tainted blood.
What have I learned…
This week has given me a lot to think about? The M&M is so difficult. The medicines that are supposed to help a person deal with the disease gives you more of a headache. There is so many different schedules to try to fit into your day with work, school, and family. I find it hard to swallow big pills and to try to get the peanut M&M down with a glass of water. This really shows me that what HIV patients have to go through is harder than I ever thought and want.
My progress….
I am on day three of the M&M simulation and look forward to the end. I am journaling every day and its hard work. I look forward to finishing up the rest of the semester.

  1. The subject of my blog this week was the probable change of the regulations regarding blood donations. There is a large group of hemophiliacs that oppose the lessening of blood donation restrictions due to fear. As you have stated, in the past, there was an influx of the HIV virus among hemophiliacs caused by infected blood. I can see somewhat as to how that group of people would be aprehensive to a change of that magnitude.

  2. Awfully shorts, Ashley. Not much substance for me to read. Yes, I knew that hemophiliacs were put into harms way by a government and blood banking industry intend on doing nothing.

The M&M simulation is suppose to be hard to get students to think about their actions that may have put them at risk so they don't repeat those actions in the future.
