AIDS Organizations In Africa

Africa is on the most affected continents in the world but has some of the most comprehensive non-profit groups looking after its people. There are so many groups that support and help HIV and AIDS patients. The first one is Children in Distress in Zambia. This group offers help to children orphaned by HIV and AIDS. In just Zambia there are 65,000 orphans. The next group is The Kenneth Kuanda Children of Africa Foundation. This organization was founded by the former president of Zambia and serves to provide help and support for AIDS patients as well as orphans. The Luke Society of Uganda serves to help HIV positive people fight against common diseases like pneumonia and malaria. www.lukesociety.com The next organization Salima HIV-AIDS Support Organization. This group makes home visits to patients that are in late stages. They also support orphans and do testing. My favorite group was Shining Stars of Monarch. This group is an all volunteer group dedicated to orphans and feeding programs as well as raising awareness in Francistown, Botswana. There are so many other organizations in Africa dedicated to helping HIV and AIDS patients. 1. When I was writing about Chrisitine Magguire in my blog for this week (AIDS Denialism), I came across a connection between her and Former President of South Africa Thabo Mbeki (1994-2008). Unlike the organizations you have talked about in your blog, Mbeki is slightly responsible for the spread and sickness of HIV?AIDS in Aouth Africa. Why you ask? Well Mbeki does not believe in the causation of AIDS from HIV (he is a Denailist). Because of this, he implemented a ban on the use of ART's in public hospitals. Like many Denialists in Africa, they AIDS from taking medications like AZT.

  2. It is unfortunate to know that Africa is so highly affected by HIV and AIDS but it is great to know that there is so much help and resources available to the people there. But even with all of this assistance they have, in 2008, they averaged 2 million deaths, and 33.4 million people lived with the disease. This shows us that although our efforts are high there, they still need to increase them immensely to affect a larger part of the population currently faced with it.
